Our day will start with a stop at Hardees for a comfort stop and chance to meet your fellow passengers. Then it’s on to the Gold Pyramid House, one of the most bizarre houses ever constructed. The pyramid is 6 stories tall, sits on 11 acres, has a towering 50-foot statue of Ramses, a replica of King Tuts Tomb, and surrounded by a moat. Tours are back open, after a devasting fire in 2018, which feature a visit to the garden level of the house filled with authentic Egyptian artifacts that were salvaged. Truly a golden home fit for the gods. We will enjoy a special themed lunch in the pyramid before we head for the Robie House. Next, it’s on to Chicago to see Frank Lloyd Wright’s finest example of a Prairie Architectural style house. Built between 1909 and 1910 the Robie House is now on the world UNESCO Heritage list and considered one on of Wright’s most important houses. Our special Docent lead tour will include all 3 levels and time to visit the Museum Gift Shop. Fredrick Robie’s generous budget allowed for continuous spans of art glass windows, tapestries, numerous French doors, and enclosed garden, servant quarters and lots of architectural embellishments.
